The following is my story about our dear friend, Jack..........(Please feel free to send to your email list) If you have any questions, give me a note back..........
His life was celebrated by a military service at Willamette Cemetery with family, co-workers and 10 of his 'Class of 63' friends.
His memorial pamphlet had a picture of a mountain cabin with the poem 'Miss Me A Little, But Let Me Go......" written inside. The conclusion of the service was a 21-gun salute with the folded flag being presented to his wonderful wife, Carol. The flag had been folded in a solemn ceremony followed by taps. His final resting place has the view of Mt Adams and Mt. St. Helens.
After the ceremony, we caravanned (or carreened) to Chan's Chinese Restaurant (or zig zagged Boston style if you were following Gary Langenwalter like I was!) ((Juanita McNeill was following me not knowing I was following Gary)) ((( she was wondering what the duece I was driving like that for))). For three and a half hours Cheryl Porter, Gary Alstott, Gary Langenwalter, Betty Bjerke, Barbara Parton, Fred Reeves, Juanita McNeill, and Dub Stewart and myself enjoyed the friendship of each other and especially Jack! Doug Polley had other commitments and couldn't make the luncheon. Laughter is sooooo good for the soul!
Always,
Jane Able Kassuba and Betty Lou Bjerke Getchel
